Brian Austin Oakes holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Communication from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Brian obtained his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the University of Alabama. He is licensed to practice before the Alabama State and Federal Courts and before the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Brian has had an extensive practice focusing on personal injury, domestic and employment law. Brian's current and former clients include the Alabama Education Association, the Police Benevolent Association, the International Union of Police Associations (AFL-CIO) and various other labor organizations. Brian has vast experience in Condominium/Home Owners' Association law as current and past counsel to various associations and as a board president of an almost 100 condominium unit association in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.
Brian is an Alabama registered mediator maintaining registration on the Civil, Domestic and Domestic Violence Mediation Rosters. Brian is also registered by the Alabama Center for Dispute Resolution as a Foreclosure mediator.
In addition to his mediation and litigation practices, Brian is an educator. Brian has taught in the Business School at Calhoun Community College since 1996. Brian was selected as the Director of Paralegal Studies for Calhoun College's Paralegal Program in 2009. Brian is also faculty in the Communication Studies Department at UAB and has taught Communication courses since 2000. Brian is a past president of the UAB National Alumni Society.
